It’s not a fake air vent; it’s a real air vent that happens to have an anti-grenade design. Another tube goes horizontally into the building.

And you know, because Trump is all about crowd sizes as a measurement of support, it’s almost guaranteed that the crowd for Biden’s inauguration is going to be miniscule because of COVID. And Trump will absolutely use the small crowd size as evidence that he did not really have the support needed to win the election.
Eerily enough, this is almost EXACTLY how I pictured it ending.
