Its a spit test. The patent for the test is owned by Myriad. I was given a trial size of scope mouthwash and told to swish it for 30 seconds and spit it into a vial then repeat. They then took all my spit and mouthwash and sent it to Myriad and tested it there. I got my results in less than 2 weeks.
How do you test for it?
OP looks quite young. Were they preventative mastectomies? I have to hand it to her for her bravery!
Hey OP, do you have the BRCA1 gene? It runs in my family and all the girls are getting this done.
They don't deal with diagnostics and they don't do all of them. They just map out the genes. I got that info from a blurb they posted in Feb. That may have changed as of recently because Myriad's patent on BRCA testing expired the middle of this year some time.
Those are the common ones but there are several more. I'm so glad testing is available to everyone now. Very exciting stuff. Do you have your results back?
All I know is I just did mine a couple weeks ago and they test for BRCA 1 and 2 I think?
